"We are made of words, dreams and a little bit of reality"...    Christine Orban

Inspired by the colors of Pop Art and Urban Art, Lucie Lith creates artworks where words blend with images to tell stories and create a distinctive visual language.

In the beginning, there were words

Lucie Lith worked for many years in operational marketing and management. A self-taught artist, she decided to fully dedicate herself to painting in 2015, although she has been creating since early childhood.

Guided by a vivid imagination and a strong inclination for storytelling, she began her artistic journey through writing poetry and several novels before discovering collage in 2008. Her work quickly evolved into more complex creations, using images she reworks, prints, cuts, and tears, then enriches with paint and text to deepen her message.

The union of writing and painting

In 2016, she turned to urban art techniques, experimenting with spray paint and creating her own stencils, which she began combining with text. This marked the beginning of the fusion between words and painting, a fusion that would become central to her work. Letters blend into her characters and surroundings, shaping a face, revealing a thought, expressing an attitude, or asserting a conviction. Her focus lies in each person's story, the experiences that shape who we are.
Because we are all made of layered stories. We carry within us the trace of every encounter, every moment, nothing ever truly disappears.

Her paintings combine acrylic, pen, brush, aerosol, and often dozens of layers of stencils, which she destroys once the piece is complete, because each story is unique. Her characters are formed by a tangle of words, letters intertwining and often taking flight into the background. The colors merge into one another, revealing bold, fragmented figures imperfect, like the world, yet unified by a quiet sense of hope.
Sometimes, a text or poem accompanies the piece.

A plural practice with one common thread: the words

Since 2020, Lucie Lith has also been creating digital artworks, printed in limited series on dibond panels or fine art paper. These pieces, often more intricate and detailed, extend her creative approach by exploring new narrative dimensions.

She also offers personalized creations based on photographs, transforming them into unique and emotional visual memories.

A quest for meaning

Each of Lucie Lith's artworks is a message and aspires to tell a story. Each canvas stems from the desire to engage others, to unleash the imagination, and to reinvent reality, in order to question the world we live in and also evoke essential values such as love, humanism, and freedom. It also prompts us to reflect on the place of writing and the role of memory in societies increasingly inundated by immediate and ephemeral images, the fading of writing in favor of text messages, and the superficiality of social media. It is a way to combat this culture of the transient that will leave us with nothing...
