Artwork / PORTRAITS
The portrait allows me to tell the story of each of the faces I paint. I imagine their life, sometimes their thoughts. And I like the idea that the viewer can tell their own story by looking at them.
From monochrome to multicolored, from painting to collage, via resin, the possibilities are numerous and the options chosen are sometimes very different, but stencil and words still reign supreme.

Smoky
Spray paint and stencils on canvas
73 x 92cm - 2021
This portrait with a close-up framing allows everyone to imagine the face of this woman and her gaze. Like a fog that one seeks to dissipate, the smoke escapes from his mouth and rises beyond the painting.

L'œuvre du temps #1
Acrylic, spray paint and stencils on canvas
73 x 92cm - 2020
The passage of time leaves traces on our faces but also carries with it the pieces of our stories... This work symbolizes this time that has flown away, through this aged face composed of letters and words which may seem to be falling apart or, on the contrary, forming the foundation of our beings...

L'Evasion
Spray paint and stencils on canvas
89 x 116 cm - 2019
Against the background of a library, the shelves of which are deconstructed, letting out letters that symbolize the escape from culture, the books fly away from the headdress of a young African whose gaze remains turned towards the future.
The imagination takes flight, as our knowledge and culture disappear or perhaps come to colonize other places... everyone can read what they like...

La délicatesse
Spray paint and stencils on canvas
73 x 92cm - 2019
Painting and words mingle in this delicate portrait where 8 levels of gray rub shoulders with black and white. What is this woman entirely made of stencils and spray paint thinking or dreaming of? The alternation of matte and shiny black lets you guess the words that escape from your thoughts so that everyone can imagine the story they want...

Karen girl
Mixed technique on wood
52 x 58 cm - 2018
Inspired by my travels in Northern Thailand, this artwork represents a young girl belonging to the Karen tribe, more commonly known as "the tribe of the long necks".
The wooden board is lined with the words of the royal poet Sunthorn Phu who died in 1855, mixed with white paint. The verses of the poet are taken up in the colored stencil, in order to highlight the jewels and the typical dress.

Partir
Mixed technique on wood
73 x 116 cm - 2016
The departure... quite a story... Collage, paint and resin merge in this work on wood weighing more than 11 kg which has fasteners already attached to the back and is ready to be hung on the wall.
The shiny reflections of the resin contrast with the matte paint to bring perspective and movement to this feminine silhouette which is moving towards a new life, without denying its past.
The text, written in 2016, is printed on a 20x20cm dibond plate (polyethylene core composite material covered with aluminum). It is attached to the shipment when purchasing the original work.

Inspired by a face encountered during one of Lucie Lith's travels, As light as a feathered headdress tells of the hope and the desire to cling to the idea that another life is possible.
